As a mom, I’ve experienced the chaos and unpredictability of parenting. I know how challenging it can be to stick to a cleaning schedule, especially when your children’s activities pull you in different directions.
Every home and family is unique, and so are their cleaning needs. That’s why I’ve created a weekly cleaning schedule that can be easily customized to fit your specific tasks and lifestyle changes. I’m confident that regardless of your schedule, this flexible approach will make maintaining a clean home much more manageable.
In this post, two weekly cleaning checklist PDF files are available for free download. One is prefilled, and the second is blank. So, if you prefer to take inspiration from mine and create one that better fits your needs, you can use that one.

Here are the chores my family and I aim to get done weekly. Some weeks, some things get skipped; other weeks, everything gets done. But overall, this list has helped keep our home clean and manageable. So don’t be discouraged if, in some weeks, you can’t get it all done. That’s okay, and life happens. If you stick to the weekly cleaning checklist long-term, you’ll see that the weekly chores will take less and less time to get done since everything is getting cleaned regularly.

This is a simple weekly cleaning checklist; you can tackle it in whatever way works best for you, your family, roommates, etc. We usually get it all done at once, either on Saturday morning or Sunday morning. But we are four in the house, so we finish quickly.
However, you can also tackle a few chores daily and be done with it all by the weekend. Or you can do what we do and pick a day when you can get it all done at once. But the great thing about this easy cleaning checklist is that you can do it in whatever way makes sense to you and the people you live with. As long as it’s done by Sunday, you’re good!

Weekly Cleaning Checklist | Cleaning Essentials
General Cleaning Products List
1. Swiffer Duster
This duster is a must-have for weekly cleaning. Your ceiling, vents, frames, and ceiling fans will be much easier to clean with this, and I love that the dust sticks to it rather than flying all over the place. The stick itself lasts forever if stored carefully. I’ve had mine for years and now buy the replacements as needed.
2. Spin Mop
My mop is very similar to this one. However, I’d buy this one if I didn’t already have the one I have! I got my spin mop from my mom. She purchased it at a store near her home, so I had no luck finding it online. However, this one has good reviews raving about it. Also, I have no clue how I ever mopped without a spin mop! It makes mopping way less daunting!
3. Bar Keepers Friend
You are missing out if you aren’t using this to clean your stainless steel sink! I used to use the powdered one, but the liquid is way better. I also use it to clean my stovetop and remove rust stains in different areas.
4. Clorox Disinfecting Bleach
Clorox disinfecting bleach is another staple in our home. And I don’t only use it for my laundry. I also use it to clean and disinfect my floors, walls, doorknobs, light switches, cutting boards, inside the fridge, toilet bowl, dishwasher, trash bins, etc.
5. Powdered Tide
You see Tide and think laundry, right? But I also use it to clean the floors, walls, doors, kitchen door cabinets, shoes, and other surfaces. I learned this hack from @gocleanco on Instagram, and I never looked back because it seriously cleans so well!
6. Rags
These are the best for cleaning, easy to wash and disinfect, inexpensive, and come with many rags. I use them to clean everything in my home except the bathroom.

7. Clorox Disinfecting Spray
I love this spray! After I have scrubbed and cleaned all the surfaces, I use it to disinfect the toilet, sink, countertops, bathtub, etc. I spray it and let it sit for the recommended time. Then, I rinse and wipe it off.
8. Toilet Bowl Cleaner
This one works so well for cleaning the toilet bowl. It makes cleaning the toilet bowl super easy.
Weekly Cleaning Checklist | Q&A:
What should be cleaned weekly?
What should be cleaned weekly should be determined based on what you can actually get done weekly. It really comes down to prioritizing and using your time wisely. As I keep saying, there is no one-size-fits-all to cleaning, so feel free to adjust as you see fit for your lifestyle.
How do I make a realistic cleaning schedule?
As I mentioned above, there isn’t a perfect weekly cleaning chores list that works for everyone. Even though certain things “should” be cleaned weekly, that doesn’t mean everyone has time to do so. And adding them to your list when you know you really don’t have the time to do them is just setting yourself up to fail.
The best thing you can do is to get inspiration from others’ weekly cleaning checklists. Then, determine what from those lists you can realistically get done weekly. From there, come up with your own REALISTIC weekly cleaning chores list. Creating a cleaning schedule this way will ensure you create something manageable and realistic for YOU.
