Places Most People Forget To Clean
What are some unexpected places that most people forget to clean in their homes? Well, I think that answer is very long, but here are seven places I always forget to clean In my home.
1. TV Screens
The TV screen is one of those common places people forget to clean but should be cleaned regularly. However, I always forget to clean it; when I realize it, all our TV screens are filthy. I usually use these wipes from the 99-cent-only store, and they leave our screens streak-free. But you can also use a lightly damp microfiber cloth to wipe it, then a dry one to wipe it streak-free.
And I find these in the cleaning aisle or the register area. If you last cleaned your TV screens a while ago, go around and give them a good cleaning. You’ll be surprised how dirty they might be.
2. Top of frames
The top of frames quickly collect dust, and since they are not at eye level, it’s a place most people need to remember to clean regularly, including me. Fortunately, this is a straightforward and effortless task. I usually wipe the dust with a damp, lightly soapy rag, rinse, and repeat once or twice to get all the dust off. You can also use a Swiffer, especially for frames that are harder to reach.
3. Vacuum filters
Vacuum filters are things people forget to clean and are not cleaned as regularly as they should be. So, if you have never cleaned your vacuum filter or it’s been a while since you last cleaned it, check it. A dirty filter impedes your vacuum from working correctly, which is essential.
However, all vacuums have different maintenance instructions, so always check your vacuum manual to ensure you are cleaning it as recommended. Typically, the process involves removing the filter, tapping off the excess dirt, and washing it with water and mild detergent. Allow it to dry completely before reinserting it into the vacuum.
4. The oven
Our oven usually gets dirty quickly. We use it often for meals, and my kids enjoy baking, so it gets used quite often, so you can imagine how bad it gets! That said, I have used many methods to clean my oven before. But the one thing that truly gets it spotless is this oven cleaner. If your oven looks like mine did below, it’s time to scrub it down. Check out my Instagram under “cleaning tips and hacks” for a before-and-after picture I shared in my stories a while ago. It was filthy, as you can see in the photos below. Yikes!
5. Drawer Under The Oven
The drawer under the oven is a space I forget to clean very often. By the time I realize it’s way overdue! But when I finally get to cleaning it, I start vacuuming the area. I then wipe it with a damp, soapy rag to get as clean as possible. Next, if there are still stubborn stains, etc. I try scrubbing with soapy water first. And if that doesn’t work, I spray oven cleaner on the stubborn spots, which usually gets it really clean. Wipe it with a clean, damp rag afterward to remove the oven cleaner. Rinse and repeat as needed.
6. Range Hood Filter
The range hood filter can get gross, and if you are anything like me, you probably forget to clean it regularly. There are many ways to clean the filter; however, I have found that Dawn Powerwash makes it a breeze. I spray it and let it sit for 5-10 minutes, then scrub lightly, rinse, and repeat as needed. It’s that simple!
7. The Top of The Fridge
The top of the fridge needs to be cleaned regularly, and it is for sure at the top of most people’s overlooked places to clean in your home. I tend to forget about it for weeks! The top of the fridge quickly collects dust and grease so that it can get bad quickly. When it’s time to clean the top of your fridge, don’t worry; the process is simple. Start by vacuuming dust on the surface, then use a damp, soapy rag and wipe the surface. Rinse and repeat until it’s sparkling clean.
