Have you have been wanting to get your kitchen organized but don’t know where to start, and/or feel overwhelmed? Then this post is for you! I have compiled a ton of super helpful kitchen organization tips and  this will surely become your new go-to post for all things kitchen organization!

And whether you’re dealing with a small kitchen, big kitchen, literally any size kitchen, these tips will definitely help and inspire you to create the organized kitchen you have always wanted.

This post is all about kitchen organization tips.

The Best Kitchen Organization Tips:

1. Create Zones

One of my biggest tips for organizing is to create zones/categories. What does that mean?

Let’s use this space as an example. If you pay attention, you can see that this space is the “zone” for kids’ lunch pales and water bottles. When you organize this way, especially when several people live in the home, it ensures the space will stay organized, it’s very functional. And when cleaning up or putting things away, you can easily and much faster put everything away because it’s simply returning everything to its ‘home” rather than finding a “home” for everything each time you need to put it away.

Recreate a similar concept all throughout your kitchen based on your own family’s needs. And trust me, it’ll make a huge difference in the way your kitchen will function as well as how much easier it’ll be to maintain it organized. Use containers like these from The Container Store to consolidate the items in your zones and keep them nice and organized.

2. Use Drawer Organizers For Your Utensils

Eating and serving utensils are items we use daily. So you definitely want this space to be super functional and easy to maintain. However, a big issue with organizing utensils is that they come in all different sizes, so if the container is too big, you have items rolling around every time you open the drawer. And if you are anything like me, that probably drives you nuts, right? Solve that issue by using organizers that come in a variety of sizes so you can get a more custom fit.

3. Use Turntables

If you aren’t using turntables aka lazy Susan’s to organize your home, you are missing out! If you have awkward spaces that you really don’t know how to best organize, try a turntable. These are perfect to use under sinks, in high cabinets, the corners of pantries, inside your refrigerator, etc. And with a quick little spin, you can quickly see at a glance everything that is on it. And nothing gets lost and forgotten in the back of shelves.

Here are a few other favorites in different sizes:

4. Use a Turntable To Organize Spices

If you have a good collection of spices, you probably struggle with how to best organize them. Spices are used daily, so it’s important to organize and store them in a way that is easy to maintain and functional for everyday use. And this idea of organizing spices on a turntable is literally genius!

I have had my spices organized in a turntable for years, and it’s hands down the best way to do it. Not only is it functional and looks so good, but saves soooo much space. So if you were looking specifically for small kitchen organization ideas, this is one you should definitely try. You can take it an extra step and decant your spices into matching canisters too!

PS: If you have a lot of spices, the turntable tip might not work for you unless you have a lot of cabinet space. Another great option is to organize your spices like this on the wall. This way looks great too!

5. Stackable Drawers to Organize Under The Sink

One of my favorite kitchen organization hacks is using stackable containers to organize under sinks. The space under most sinks is pretty small. And with the pipes taking up a lot of the space down there it is even smaller.

But you can work around that by using stackable drawers paired with turntables. You can use the stackable drawers on either side where there is no plumbing and the turntables in the middle where the plumbing is at. This allows you to maximize the storage space under the sink so you can have plenty of space to organize all your essentials.

A more affordable option is stackable shoe containers instead of stackable drawers.

6. Use Shelf Risers To Maximize Storage Space

If you have space inside your cabinets, use shelf risers to take advantage of vertical space. The shelf riser can double the storage space inside your cabinet, which will allow you to store more per cabinet and to better organize your dishes. And to eliminate visual clutter, organize dishes by type and color.

7. Take Advantage Of Wall Space

The wall space is one of the most forgotten spaces when it comes to storage potential. The amount of storage you can create by creating storage on your walls is insane!

Clear your counter space and use wall-mounted rods to organize dishes, coffee/tea station, etc. This is a great idea for any size kitchen but especially helpful for someone looking for small kitchen organization ideas. If you have minimal counter space or cupboard space, this will definitely help you create more storage/space in your kitchen.

8. Wrap Up Those Cords

If you are anything like me and dislike the fact that most small kitchen appliances do not have a way to contain those dang cords, then you have got to try these cord bundlers! They are super easy to install and they keep the cords nice and contained and solve the annoying loose appliance cord clutter problem for good!

9. Tupperware Organization

I think Tupperware clutter is a pain point in many homes, right? The first thing I recommend when it comes to Tupperware is to purge. Less is more! That’s what I did and I will never go back. Buy and keep only the amount of Tupperware you actually need and also buy Tupperware that you actually like. I think it’s better to have less Tupperware that is nicer quality instead of a lot and it’s all random and mismatched.

This is a genius idea to organize Tupperware in a way that is functional, easy to maintain and it looks so good! Use wire dividers for the lids and then stack up the actual container by size on your cabinet shelf.

10. Use A Curtain Rod For Trash Bags

This is a genius idea! Organize trash bags by using a curtain rod. Mount the rod on the inside cabinet under your kitchen sink, or behind a pantry door, etc. Having the bags on the curtain rod mounted on the wall will make them super handy and easy to grab. And make sure to use proper screws so that the rod is sturdy to the wall.

11. File Fold Grocery Bags Into A Basket

Looking for a super functional and cute idea to store and organize your reusable grocery bags?

Use a cute basket or baskets to organize your reusable grocery shopping bags and file fold them nicely as shown here or roll them up. Having them in a basket keeps them all nice and contained in one space rather than scattered between several drawers. And it also makes it so that you can easily find them when you need them.

12. Put Dish Soap In Pretty Canisters

If you hate washing dishes like me, then maybe, just maybe, having a cute dish soap dispenser will make it a less daunting task. Ha-ha, okay, so maybe it won’t make washing dishes any less daunting, but it eliminates the visual clutter and makes the sink area look much more intentional and organized. And instead of buying the small size hand and dish soap, you can buy the bulk size and just refill your canisters as needed.

13. Organize Cooking Essentials

If you have been searching for a cute, stylish way to organize all your daily cooking essentials on your countertops without it looking cluttered, try this idea.

Cooking essentials can easily pile up on the counters, and it makes the kitchen look messy and cluttered. But you can work around that. Use a stylish turntable to consolidate and organize all your cooking essentials in one space. Then decant the oil, vinegar, etc, and switch them into cute canisters so that they can serve as decor too. Use a simple yet stylish utensil holder to keep all the spoons, etc nice and tidy.

14. Use Labels

If you know me, you know I LOVE using labels everywhere and anywhere that I can. However, you do not actually need to label everything if you don’t want to. It can definitely be overdone sometimes. But I do think labels are essential in certain situations in order to keep a space organized.

Especially in shared spaces. In those spaces, labeling ensures that everyone not only knows where to find what they are looking for but that they also return it to its place once done with it. With that said, labeling makes a space much more functional, and easier to maintain.

If you aren’t a fan of labels, I recommend at least using them in shared spaces.

Here are my go-to labeling products.

  • Bin Clips (Clear | Black | Gold)
  • Label Maker (Brother Label Maker | DYMO Label Maker
  • Hanging Tags
  • Chalk Tape Labels
  • White Sharpie

15. Use Stackable Bottle Organizers

If you do not have a lot of space in your kitchen, taking advantage of vertical space is crucial. So here is a genius idea on how to organize water bottles in a way that takes advantage of the vertical space in the cabinet.

Some may think this is a lot of water bottles, but when you have kids, this is a pretty normal amount. We have 1-2 water bottles per person plus shakers; so they add up real fast! So if you are drowning in water bottles like me, and don’t have a lot of storage space this is definitely a great way to get them organized all in one place in an insanely functional way.

16. Organize Pots and Pans + Lids

Need a super easy and functional way to organize your pots and pans? Use a combination of shelf risers, holder racks, and pull-out organizers to optimize the storage space in your cabinet. If you just pile the pots and pans on each other they are harder to get to, this makes it much easier to get to them and put them away. And also, you can fit many more this way than if you just stack them all up on each other.

17. File Fold Kitchen Towels

Here is another great kitchen organization hack! File fold your kitchen towels and store them in a drawer. By file folding them, you’ll be able to fit many more than if you just throw them in there and they will also look much tidier if you file fold. I mean, it’s the little things in life, right? Ha-ha! You can add a drawer divider but it is not necessary.
