I get it! After living in a small apartment for years and now renting a house with very little storage space, I have become basically a pro at creating and maximizing storage space in pretty much every corner of my home!
I am actively looking for ways to add more storage space to our home. I seriously enjoy taking an otherwise wasted space and making it functional. So with the space under the bed, all I see is potential! I hope once you read this post, you’ll find one or a few under-the-bed storage solutions that will work for you!
This post is all about the best under-the-bed storage solutions that anyone needing more storage space should try.
Best Under the bed storage solutions
1. Storage Containers
These under-the-bed storage containers are a perfect under-the-bed storage solution! They are perfect to store items you don’t use daily or that you use seasonally. You can store seasonal clothing, blankets, bedsheets, etc.
It has a zipper cover to keep the contents dust-free. The cover is clear so you can still easily see what you have in each container without having to dig through it.
If you prefer something without the clear top, here are two other similar stylish under-bed storage options.
2. Wire Under Bed Storage With Wheels
This under-the-bed storage with wheels is a great option if you’re looking for something that is more similar to a drawer. This would be more for things you use on a daily. It does not have a lid so you definitely do not want to use it for items that you won’t touch in months as it would probably end up very dusty.
This white wire roll under-bed storage cart is a good option for kids’ toys, books, shoes, and house slippers/shoes. You could even use it for pajamas or your nighttime blankets, extra bedsheets, etc.
And it is great because you can easily roll it in and out from under the bed with ease.
Here is a similar option from Target.
3. Under the bed Storage Bin Tote
These under-the-bed storage bins are perfect for heavier-duty storage. If the space under your bed is pretty high, you can even stack up two and fit a couple of these sets under there.
These are perfect to store kids’ toys, bulky shoes, clothing, seasonal items, keepsake items, etc. They are heavier duty so they should be good for daily use if needed.
I would even go the extra mile and label these so you can easily see what exactly you have stored in each. Especially helpful if the bins are being used/handled by more than one person. Also, they have a lid, so no under-the-bed dust getting into your stuff!
Here are two other similar options:
4. Wrapping Paper Storage Bag
How convenient would it be to have all your wrapping paper at your fingertips all in one place? I used to have mine stored in the garage but I would never use it. I would end up buying new gift-wrapping stuff every time.
Ever since I got all my wrapping paper organized, I am finally using what I have on hand. And having all of it stored under the bed in a wrapping paper storage bag is actually quite genius! This is definitely a good functional way to make use of that under-the-bed space.
5. under the bed drawer
Leave it to The Container Store to have some of the most functional organizational products ever. They have anything and everything to organize your house and these under-bed drawers do not disappoint!
They show these storing shoes, but really, the sky is the limit. You can use these as an addition to your dresser or in place of one if you don’t have space for one in your bedroom.
You can keep your socks, underwear, pajamas, etc in here. And as I said, it’s a drawer so they are super convenient for daily use.
6. cLEAR STORAGE BAGS
I personally only have one bed set for our bed, but for my kids, I do keep double of almost everything. They just get things dirty really fast, so extras always come in handy. And these clear storage bags are perfect for storing bed sets all in one place.
However, these are a little on the larger side so if you don’t have a large space under your bed these might not work for you.
But for those who do, these are great to store your extra bulky bedding, large blankets, or bulky seasonal items. And not only do these hold A LOT of stuff, but they are also clear so you can easily see what you have in each of them without having to open and dig through them.
7. shoe storage organizer
I think it’s safe to say we all have pairs of shoes that we do not wear often. And what happens when something is stored for too long with no protection? It gets DUSTY!
I have found that with shoe storage it’s important to not only store them in a way that they will get plenty of ventilation but also in a way that they will stay clean and free of dust between uses. And these shoe storage organizers do just that!
So whether you need storage for your everyday shoes or storage for shoes that aren’t worn too often these shoe storage organizers are a great option! If you don’t have space for shoes in your closet, throw them into one or two of these shoe storage organizers and store them under your bed. They have a clear top, so you’ll still be able to see at a glance what shoes are stored in each one.
Here are two other great options from Amazon with great reviews.
8. Large industrial Basket
This low profile under-bed storage basket is not only functional but really nice too! You can store just about anything in it and even if it shows under your bed, it won’t be an eyesore as the basket is super cute!
This is pretty heavy duty so you can use it for heavier items and should fit under most beds. However, still, measure the space under your bed before buying as all beds differ in size.
9. stylish under bed storage
This beautiful stylish under-the-bed storage basket is another great option to store daily used items under your bed. Because it does not come with a lid, I would not use it for items that you need to store for long periods of time.
If you don’t have a nightstand or space in your nightstand, this is a super cute and stylish option to keep all those items you would typically keep on a nightstand. It’s pretty large so you can definitely fit a lot more stuff. And did I mention it is super stylish?!
10. Rolling Metal Under Bed Storage Cart
Here is another under-bed roll out storage organizer. This rolling metal cart comes in handy! I had a similar one when we lived in the two-bedroom apartment and they are SO versatile. You can use it to store loose items as shown in the image or to stack up additional boxes or bins and easily roll them in and out from under your bed.
11. Storage organizer drawer
This one is a little more on the expensive side. However, this storage organizer drawer will give you more of a “built-in” look and is very pretty under-bed storage. There are beds that come with built-in drawers however, they are expensive, and if you already have a bed but don’t have drawers on it and need them, this a great alternative to buying an entirely new bed.
Also, I much rather have this option over getting a bed with built-in drawers because those beds are typically very heavy to move for cleaning. With this option, you simply roll out the drawers and clean/dust under the bed as needed.
A super great option for that extra storage + that “built-in” look!
