Bedroom Organization Hacks | Clothing
1. Have A Designated Space For Worn Clothing
Create this bedroom organization hack:
Maybe I’m alone here, but am I the only one that uses certain clothing a few times before I wash it? Well, if you do the same as me, you need a place to put these clothes between uses. I personally do not like putting it back in my closet with my regular clothes.
Instead, I use an over-the-door hanging rack to keep these items hung between uses. Depending on the amount of space you have, you can also use hooks or a hamper. This way, those clothing items aren’t just thrown over a chair somewhere in your bedroom.
2. Hooks Are Perfect To Keep Things Off The Floor
Create this bedroom organization hack:
One of my favorite bedroom organization ideas is using hooks! Hooks are so useful for so many things. You can use them to hang your purses, scarves, ties, tank tops, backpacks, etc. And they take very little space and they allow you to create storage on empty walls where there is otherwise no storage.
3. Use Clothing Rack Dividers
Create this bedroom organization hack:
Do you like keeping your clothes hung by type? Try clothing rack dividers! They help keep your clothes separated and you can see at a glance each section of clothing. And if anyone else helps hang clothing, this helps make it easy for everyone to know where each type of clothing belongs.
4. Use the Same Type/Color Hangers
One very simple bedroom organization idea is to keep all your hangers one color and, if possible, the same type too. Just like Just a Girl and Her Blog did in her space!
I prefer velvet hangers. They just look nicer and their slim design allows you to fit way more in your closet. However, whatever your favorite hangers are, use those, but try to stick to one color and type.
5. Use Hook Hanger For Tank-Tops and Camis
Create this bedroom organization hack:
If you own a lot of tank-tops and camis and you keep them in your closet, instead of hanging each one on its own hanger, taking up space, hang them all on these hook hangers. They take up way less space and hold a lot!
6. Flip Hangers To Help With Purging
Create this bedroom organization hack:
Do you struggle with letting go of clothing? This flipped the hanger method is so simple yet so effective.
At the beginning of the year, flip all your hangers the “wrong” way and when you wear something and hang it back, put the hanger the “correct” way. At the end of the year, you’ll easily be able to identify what you haven’t worn all year. Then you can decide whether you should keep the items you haven’t worn or not.
7. Use Shelf Dividers To Organize Sweaters and Sweatshirts
Create this bedroom organization hack:
If you store your sweaters, sweatshirts, and hoodies folded on the shelf of your closet and they are always falling over when you try stacking them up, then you need to try shelf dividers. Shelf dividers will allow you to stack up all your clothing without it falling over. And will look much nicer and more organized because you’ll be able to keep different types of clothing separated too!
Bedroom Organization Hacks | Drawers
8. Use Dividers To Organize Your Dresser Drawers
Create this bedroom organization hack:
I made these myself! You can find the full tutorial here. But if you prefer to buy already made ones, I have linked some good ones below.
If you don’t have dresser drawer dividers, you are missing out! They are great for helping keep your clothes organized in each drawer. I also love them because you can create different sections of clothing within the same drawer and the dividers keep them nice and separated.
9. Organize Your Nightstand Drawers With Containers
Create this bedroom organization hack:
I think we all have that “junk drawer” in one of our nightstand drawers, right? Well, if you do, these variety-size drawer organizers are the best way to organize all those little miscellaneous items. This is one of my favorite home organization hacks for sure!
10. File Fold Clothes Inside Drawers
Not everyone is a fan of file folding, but if you have been wanting to give it a try, I highly recommend it. It does take a little more time, but it doesn’t just make your drawer look good, but it really does help fit much more in your drawers and you can easily see each shirt you have at a glance. This is one of those easy bedroom organization hacks that makes such a huge impact!
11. Use Honeycomb Drawer Organizers
Create this bedroom organization hack:
I love these! If you hate pairing your socks, this is the solution to all your sock problems haha! All you have to do is insert each pair of socks into each little circle. I also love this because rolling your socks actually wears out the elastic much faster. And you can also use them to store ties, scarves, underwear, etc.

12. Shelves With Clothes Rod Attached
Create this bedroom organization hack:
A great way to create extra storage in any space is to use furniture that can also double as storage. This way you will have more space to organize all your items. This type of shelf doubles as a decorative piece but also as clothes hanging rack! How genius, right!?
13. Headboard With Storage
Create this bedroom organization hack:
A headboard with storage is yet another great way to create even more storage space! This bedroom organization idea is especially perfect if you have no room for nightstands. Because you can use the side storage for the items you would otherwise keep on a nightstand. Additionally, I love that the front still looks like a normal headboard, and the storage is kinda hiding on the sides.
14. Nightstand With A lot Of Storage
Create this bedroom organization hack:
If you do have space for a nightstand, try picking one with plenty of storage. The more storage, the better you can organize your items in each drawer or shelf.
Bedroom Organization Hacks | Space Saving
15. Utilize The Space Under The Bed
Create this bedroom organization hack:
Don’t forget that space under the bed! I don’t recommend shoving a bunch of stuff down there and forgetting about it. But adding a good functional under the best storage solution can add so much extra useful storage space.
I have a full blog post here that you can check out for many more under-the-bed storage ideas.
16. A Door Hanger Organizer Wherever Possible
Create this bedroom organization hack:
If you need to add a little more storage space to organize all your items, an over-the-door organizer is a great option. So don’t let that door space go to waste!
Over-the-door organizers are one of my most used home organization hacks, and there are so many colors and types to pick from and you can use them to organize so many things too!
17. Narrow Nightstand To Save Space
Create this bedroom organization hack:
Do you have a tight bedroom to work with but still want a nightstand with storage? Try a tall narrow nightstand. Most nightstands are pretty wide and take up a lot of space. But a tall, narrow nightstand will still give you the storage you need but won’t take up too much space.
18. Get Yourself A Bedside Storage Organizer
Create this bedroom organization hack:
No room for a nightstand or a budget for a new headboard with storage? And you still need something to store and organize all your stuff at night plus controls, etc.? Then try a bedside organizer! Such a simple yet functional bedroom organizer!
19. Use Stackable Shoe Organizers
Create this bedroom organization hack:
A great space-saving bedroom organization hack is to take advantage of vertical space. By using stackable containers you can achieve that. You can use this tip all throughout your house where vertical space is available. But in this case, here is a shoe organization idea where you can use the vertical space in your closet or even a corner in your bedroom to organize all your shoes.
20. Narrow Laundry Hamper
Create this bedroom organization hack:
We all have a dirty closet and need somewhere to keep it between washes. But I know sometimes space is tight and a hamper might not fit. A narrow hamper might be the solution for you. If you can spare a little corner in your closet or even behind your bedroom door, you can definitely fit one or two narrow hampers.
Other options for space-saving hampers:
- Door Hampers
- Closet Hampers
21. Use Space Savings Bags To Store Extra Comforters and Blankets
Create this bedroom organization hack:
Space-saving bags aren’t a new thing, but if you haven’t tried them, I highly recommend giving them a try. They help with storing bulky clothing between seasons, bulky bedding, and extra blankets. They are truly amazing for space-saving.
Miscellaneous
22. Shoe Boxes are Perfect for Small Miscellaneous Items
Create this bedroom organization hack:
There are always those odd items that are hard to find a place to store and organize. I find that using shoe bins is a great way to store and organize those random miscellaneous items. Start by grouping like items together, then create categories with each bin.
23. Designate a Large Basket For Throw Pillows And Extra Blankets When Not In Use
Create this bedroom organization hack:
Don’t have a place to keep your throw pillows and bedding at night? And do you just toss it on the floor and it makes your room feel messy? Try adding a large basket on either side of the bed to hold these items. This will not only help keep your room tidy, but the baskets will also serve as decor too!
24. Designated Charging Station
If you are tired of all the charging cords hanging from every outlet in your bedroom, try creating a designated charging station inside your nightstand drawer. Check out how to make this exact one at Just a Girl and Her Blog.
25. Give Everything A Place
Create this bedroom organization hack:
Give everything a space. And yes, I mean everything. Not just in your bedroom closet, but in every space everywhere else in your bedroom. Giving everything a place ensures that you are able to maintain each of your spaces organized and tidy with ease. Because every time you clean up, instead of showing things in random spaces, you’ll have designated spaces to store them. This makes cleaning up much faster too!
26. Utilize Labels Wherever Possible
Labels aren’t everyone’s favorite, but I really think that labels really help keep a system in place and functional. They are especially helpful when a space is being used by several people. They help everyone know where each item belongs.
Here are my favorite labels:
- DYMO Organizer Express Pro Embossed Label Maker
- Brother P-Touch Home & Office Label Maker
- Chalkboard Tags Hanging Labels
- Black Bin Clip Labels
Questions and Answers
1. How Do I Organize My Bedroom With Too Much Stuff?
My main tip when it comes to someone who has a lot of stuff is to purge before you even think of organizing. You want to make sure that the items you are organizing are items you actually use, need, and want.
2. How Do You Organize Random Junk?
My first tip is the same as the top one. You have to purge first. And if you are still left with a lot of miscellaneous items that are still needed but just really hard to find a way to best organize them, find ways to store and organize them in a functional way.
Here are some products I use to organize and store these types of items:
3. Should I Clean or Declutter First?
I always like to do a quick “pickup” of the space first and everything goes way smoother. So I recommend you do that too! Because decluttering can get overwhelming as it is and you don’t want to be working in a dirty space, too!
4. How Do You Get Organized When You Are Overwhelmed?
Start small. Don’t jump in a try organizing an entire room. Start with one basket, one drawer, one shelf, etc. Do a small space every day, or every other day. And before you know it, you’ll be done with an entire room. Slow and steady! You’ll get a better result this way than trying to get it all done at once, then ending up overwhelmed and giving up.
5. How Do You Sort When Decluttering?
Sort as you go. For example, as you purge a space and you start pulling items out, decide at that moment what you are going to do with it. Additionally, use large trash bags or large boxes to sort items. Then label each bag or basket. (donate, trash, sell, keep, relocate, etc.) So, as you purge, you’ll have a designated space to put these items. And it will be easier to grab the box or bag at the end and take it to where it belongs.
6. How Can I Organize My Bedroom Better
The best way to organize your bedroom is to do what works for you and not be afraid to change it if something doesn’t work out. Just because an organization hack can work for me or someone else doesn’t mean it’ll work for you. And it doesn’t have to. But don’t give up! Adjust it as many times as needed until it works for you. Remember, there is no wrong or right way when it comes to organizing. It just has to work for you.
