I remember when we got our pup, Skye, her stuff was everywhere, and it took us a while to get it all stored and organized. One of the first things I wanted to figure out how to store and organize was her leashes. They are used daily, and they were always just misplaced and nowhere to be found when we needed them.
So, I searched high and low for ideas on how to organize dog leashes and came across so many great options. Ultimately, I decided to organize her leashes and harness in a basket by our door (pictured below) because I wanted something discrete that wouldn’t be an eyesore. And that has worked out great for us! However, there were so many great ideas out there, so I compiled all my favorites in this post.

Our Dog Leash Station
- Collar – This collar is extremely durable and we have had it for over a year now.
- Leash – We have had these leashes since we got Skye 2 years ago and they are both still in good condition. They are super affordable, so we love them! The only thing that might be an issue for some is the foam from the handle did wear out quickly, but that hasn’t been an issue for us. We just took it off.
- Harness – We tested about 6 harnesses before we ended up with this one. And we really love it and it’s super easy to put on and take off. Extremely durable and we had it for over a year now. She wears it daily, and it still looks like new minus all the hair on it haha!
- Basket – The basket we use to hold her harness, leashes, and collar.

Here are 5 great ideas for how to organize dog leashes:
1. Dog leash station with basket/s
Want a discrete way to store and organize your dog’s leashes, harness, etc? Use decorative baskets. This helps hide the leashes out of sight, and still have them where you need them.
This is what we found to be the best way to store dog leashes, at least in our home! We have minimal storage, so we wanted a nice dog leash station since it’s located in our living room by the front door. Looks good while still being convenient and practical!
2. Mounted pegboard and hooks

I love this idea for behind a door, in the garage, or if you have room in your pantry. This dog leash station would also be great on a wall by the door used to get your dog ready for walks. Honestly, it is so cute it would look good anywhere!

How To Organize Dog Leashes | Q&A:
Where do you keep your dog leash?
Where you keep your dog leash/es is entirely up to you and your preferences, needs, etc. I don’t think there is one right way. However, if you like having them displayed and easy to grab, then some type of wall hook would be a good idea since that makes it much easier to grab and go. And if you prefer something more discreet and hidden, baskets are a great option.
Where do you hang a dog leash?
You can hang your dog leash/leashes by using strong wall-mounted wall hooks, command hooks, or a mounted bar with hanging hooks on empty wall space near or behind the door you used to take your dog/dogs out. Other ideas are to hang them similarly in your garage, laundry room, pantry area, mud room, or right outside your front door.
And there you have it! I hope one of these dog leash storage ideas helps you create an organized dog leash station that is perfect for you and your pet!
